Our bodies have an incredible intelligence, a balanced and intrinsic communication system that (to quote the boundary breaking scientist Candace B. Pert PH.D) 'is wise enough to seek wellness, and one that can potentially keep us healthy and disease free without the modern high-tech medical intervention we now rely on'.

So how does stress increase weight gain? Here’s how it works: Chronic stress makes the body churn out too much cortisol, the body’s primary stress hormone. Cortisol affects both the adrenal glands and the immune system. Ultimately, the extra cortisol nudges the abdomen into opening its fat depots and storing more fat than it would otherwise.

So perhaps relaxation and restorative yoga, balanced with cardiovasular exercise will give our bodies a helping hand to let go of the modern day stress, allowing it to rebalance itself, and find it's ideal weight. Why not give it a go?
