SCIENCE WITH MOVEMENT

WORKING WITH YOUR CURRICULUM

We work closely with what you are focussing on, so can add or adjust each workshop, just speak to Darrell.

We can work with whatever your school is focussing on, so you can discuss with Darrell if you want him to add anything or hone in on anything in particular.

MOLECULES WORKSHOP (KS2)

Our molecules workshop focuses on the water structures of ice, water and gas and the difference in speed, spacial distance and energy within each molecular structure of the different states and what is needed to change the states using music, movement and our bodies.  We also explore reversible and irreversible states and if time discuss the movement of the water cycle over the globe, bringing in migration and flow.

WATER CYCLES (KS2)

Our Water Systems workshop focuses on the journey from the sea, to the clouds, to precipitation, streams, rivers and back to the ocean.

Packed with fascinating facts and fun movement excersizes exploring rising and falling, tricking and fast flow, the class moves as the water cycle would, discussing the biggest rivers on the earth, and discussing migration of water as it free flows around the world, finally ending on a discussion about how precious it is and how much we need to respect and look after it.

SOLAR SYSTEMS (KS2)

Our Solar systems workshop focusses on the size dimentions in space, gravity, orbits of planets and the moon (relative to the sun and the earth), night and day in terms of the earths rotation and if time, the qualitys of each planet, all explored through laban based movement.

Our science workshops can be designed around many themes, Darrell has been teaching in primary schools for 10 years so has a deep knowledge of the curriculum and as a laban based dance and movement teacher with an incredible rapport with the kids, he can focus in on anythign you need, contact us if you need any more information.

ASSISTANTS

One of your staff must be present to assist in all of our workshops.

WORKSHOP TIMINGS

The workshop can be divided up into six 50 minute workshops, from 9:30 - 3:30 or 4 longer classes, or 2 half days, depending on the workshop.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

All we ask for is a working CD player and a clear open hall for the group to move in.

Please ensure that the group are in suitable fitness clothing, no jewellery, either trainers or bare feet.

ENERGY (KS2)

This workshop discusses what is energy?  What different types of energy are there?  Then focussing on electric energy; how it can be made and the renewable and unrenewable and the global impact of it, all explored with laban based movement.

SEASONS (KS1)

Our Seasons workshop uses movement and music to feel through the cycle of the seasons, the qualities of the seasons, the difference of light and length of the day, what is so special about each one and how each one makes us feel.

LIVING THINGS AND HABITATS (KS1)

This workshop focuses on the growth of a plant from bulb to flower, through movement.  What conditions it needs to thrive, what happens to the growth of the plant without.  Why plants are so important to us, flowers, food and trees.  How we can look after them for our future.

DIGESTIVE AND CIRULATORY SYSTEMS (KS2)

Learn about the qualities of these systems with movement, how they help us function and what we need to do to keep them healthy.  Notice with how it feels to get the heart rate up, how long it takes to come down and the effect on the rest of the blood system.
